All events are free except workshops and the Sunday evening opera performance. Montanans are lovers of the word, devourers of books. We read and tell stories to ground ourselves, to remember who we are, to deepen our understanding of the Montana experienceto share the pleasure of being alive. Writers thrive in Montana, a place where even cows need extra feed. We love a well-told story, we want to hear it told by the person who wrote it, we respect the work it took to put it all down right, and we all want to stock up on some good books in the fall before winter sets in. We hope you’ll show up to this year’s Helena Festival of the Book. And if you enjoy it, we hope you will add your name to the folks on our Sponsors page, who have given of their time and resources to make it all happen. |
Don't miss another great Helena event: The Lewis & Clark Library will launch the Big Read Under the Big Sky, a month-long series of events focused on the great American novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Opening events at Lewis & Clark Library and Pioneer Park, 120 S. Last Chance Gulch. The library will give away copies of the novel, Reader's Guides, and a schedule of upcoming events. You can visit with characters from the book, enjoy Boo Radley's Treats in Trees, and the Jem Finch Football Toss. Storytelling, painting pumpkins bookmark and sticker giveaways--and more.
